A Joyful Woman

“A Joyful Woman”

2Consider it pure joy, my sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.
James 1:2-3

Other scripture references:

Psalm 90:14

Job 39:13

As We Gather
As we gather may your spirit work within us, As we gather may we glorify your name.

Knowing well that as our hearts begin to worship, We’ll be blessed because we came.

Spirit Song (CH#384)
O let the Son of God enfold you, with His Spirit and His love; Let Him fill your heart and satisfy your soul.  O let Him have the things that hold you, and His spirit, like a dove, Will descend upon your life and make you whole.

Jesus, O Jesus, come and fill your lambs.
Jesus, O Jesus, come and fill your lambs.

O come and sing this song with gladness as your hearts are filled with joy. Lift your hands in sweet surrender to His name.  O give Him all your tears and sadness; give Him all your years of pain, And you’ll enter into life in Jesus’ name.

Matthew 11
Come unto Me, all who are weak
Weary and heavy laden.
Gentle am I, humble in heart,
And you shall find rest for your soul.

All things are given unto those who believe,
Princes and lowly ones His blessings receive.
And just when I think that means everyone but me,
Jesus comes beckoning to me.

Enter the Holy gates just as you are;
No need for a happy face just come with your heart
And Jesus will bring us a joyful melody
If only His calling we heed.

We are his little ones, children of God.
Children and fellow heirs of His kingdom come.
And we share the greatest love the world has ever seen
Here in the Lord’s family.

Potluck, Scripture Sharing, and Discussion
These texts are taken from the NIV translation.  The words “man”, “brother”, and “he” have been changed to “woman”, “sister”, and “she” to personalize it for our study.  The words could also be changed to “I” and “me”.

Praise, Prayers, and Time of Prayer (Small Groups)
Let’s take some time to share “…so that we may be mutually encouraged by one another’s faith.” (Romans 1:12).  Let’s pray for one another through the week!

I Will Change Your Name
I will change your name, you shall no longer be called:
Wounded, outcast, lonely, or afraid.
I will change your name, your new name shall be:
Confidence, joyfulness, overcoming one, faithfulness, friend of God, one who seeks my face.

Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace
Make me a channel of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me bring your love.
Where there is injury, your pardon, Lord.
And where there’s doubt, true faith in you.

Make me a channel of your peace.
Where there’s despair in life, let me bring hope.
Where there is darkness, only light.
And where there’s sadness, ever joy.

Oh Master, grant that I may never seek
so much to be consoled as to console.
To be understood as to understand.
To be loved, as to love with all my soul.

Make me a channel of your peace.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.
In giving of ourselves that we receive,
And in dying that we’re born to eternal life.

I Am A Woman (CH#452)
I am a woman called to be a servant; Bound by the grace that Your love imparts. Lord, make me humble, teach me to follow; Make me a woman of your heart.

I am a woman called to speak with wisdom; Shining a light that will lead to You. Lord, give me courage to be Your witness; Make me a woman of Your truth.

I am a woman purchased by Your mercy; Bought by love that would spare no cost. Lord, make me holy, loving You only; Make me a woman of your cross.
